SCS proud to be on board."},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <strong>PoliMi<\/strong> Sailing Team, a sailing team from <strong>Politecnico di Milano<\/strong>, has won the <strong>SuMoth Challenge 2025<\/strong>, the world&#8217;s most prestigious university competition in <strong>sustainable foiling sailing<\/strong>, for the second year in a row.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We at <strong>SCS <\/strong>are proud to have taken part in this endeavor as a <strong>technical partner<\/strong>, supporting the team with precision mechanical components and engineering know-how.<br \/>\nA synergy that confirms our vision: <strong>to stand alongside the excellence that is building the boating of the future.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>What is the SuMoth Challenge?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <strong>SuMoth<\/strong> Challenge (Sustainable Moth Challenge) is an international competition held annually during <strong>Foiling Week in Malcesine<\/strong>, on the waters of Lake Garda.<br \/>\nThe goal is clear: <strong>to design and build high-performance foiling boats with minimal environmental impact<\/strong>, using innovative materials, sustainable processes and advanced engineering solutions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A real challenge among the world&#8217;s most prestigious universities, evaluated on three basic pillars:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li><strong>Design<\/strong>: design quality, engineering vision, and consistency with sustainability criteria<\/li>\n<li><strong>Production &amp; Performance<\/strong>: technical realization of the prototype and results in speed and stability tests<\/li>\n<li><strong>Regatta<\/strong>: competitiveness and control of the boat in the race<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>The numbers of the 2025 edition:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\ud83d\udccd <em>Location<\/em>: Fraglia Vela Malcesine, Lake Garda<br \/>\n\ud83c\udf0d <em>Participants<\/em>: 15+ university teams | 500+ students | 7+ countries<br \/>\n\ud83d\udea4 <em>Boats competing<\/em>: 11 sustainable foiling prototypes<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Altea: innovation and sustainability take off<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 2025 winning prototype is called <strong>Altea<\/strong>: a foiling boat designed and built starting September 2024.<br \/>\nAn evolution of the Febe boat (already a winner in 2024), Altea has been able to combine <strong>structural efficiency, hydrodynamic performance and sustainable materials<\/strong>, reaching <strong>20.7 knots in performance tests<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Altea&#8217;s technical solutions include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li><strong>\ud83c\udf31 Basalt fibers<\/strong>: green alternative to carbon fiber, with lower environmental impact<\/li>\n<li>\ud83c\udf2c\ufe0f <strong>Vela 4T-FORTE\u2122<\/strong>: ultra-light, glue-free and fully recyclable membrane<\/li>\n<li>\u2699\ufe0f <strong>Hybrid steel-carbon foil<\/strong>: CNC-milled appendages for improved performance and stiffness<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>The results of the PoliMi Sailing Team at the SuMoth Challenge 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\ud83e\udd47 <strong>1st place &#8211; Design<\/strong><br \/>\n\ud83e\udd47 <strong>1st place &#8211; Production &amp; Performance<\/strong><br \/>\n\ud83e\udd49 <strong>3rd place &#8211; Fleet Regatta<\/strong><br \/>\n\ud83c\udfc6 <strong>1st place overall &#8211; Overall<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Who is the PoliMi Sailing Team?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <strong>PoliMi Sailing Team<\/strong> consists of male and female students from the <strong>Engineering and Design<\/strong> courses <strong>at Politecnico di Milano<\/strong>, organized into five departments:<br \/>\n\ud83d\udcc8 <em>Marketing &#8211; Mechatronics &#8211; Shore Team &#8211; Structures &#8211; Performance.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An organization that combines academic rigor and team spirit, capable of transforming each project into a real, formative experience, from idea to putting into the water.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>The role of SCS in the Altea project<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>SCS<\/strong>, together with partners <strong>Three60\u00b0 Srl<\/strong> and <strong>Clarentools<\/strong>, supported the project by providing ultra-high-precision <strong>CNC-milled mechanical components<\/strong> integrated into the most critical points of the foil appendages.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A concrete technical contribution, but also a testimony to how <strong>collaboration between industry and academia<\/strong> can generate value, innovation and sustainability.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;When talent meets the right course-made up of passion, commitment and expertise-only great results can be born,&#8221;
